SPORTS PSYCHOLOGY
MENTAL HEALTH & ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT
It has never been more important for athletes to invest in training their mind and working on their mental game as it is now. Winning and maintaining a successful career as an athlete is not just about staying in the best physical shape. It is known that the winner isn’t necessarily the fittest athlete competing. It’s also about being able to deal with the pressure and intense emotions that come with competing, losing, and winning, being completely present during a game, being able to deal with the crowds, other team members and coaches and many other issues that athletes face in their everyday lives.

Ahella Al Naggar
Psychologist
about me.
It was a little over 10 years ago when I first stepped into a gym. Growing up overweight and asthmatic I was completely out of my comfort zone. This wasn’t love at first sight, but it completely changed my life; that’s when I started to develop a passion for movement and training. I decided I wanted to learn more so I can understand how my body works and how to train it. At the time I was studying psychology at the American University in Cairo (AUC).
I always knew I wanted to help people, but I didn’t know in what way quite yet.
I couldn’t help but notice all the connections between fitness and psychology, and how important it is to balance between our mental and physical health.
I’ve since worked with hundreds of clients to help them reach their physical and mental health goals. I teach fitness, yoga, flexibility, and aerial arts at multiple different studios across the city. I’m also the first to develop mind-body programs that bring physical and psychological skills training together.
As a therapist I have a wide range of experience working with kids and adults in clinics and in a school setting. I am certified by the linehan institute in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and I’m currently completing the requirements for the Beck Institutes Certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT).
